Meet Richard

Certified Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach

Anchor 1

My name is Richard Albert and I was born in Hungary in 1983. I live and work as a personal trainer in Kuala Lumpur. I grew up in Hungary and until my early 20's I was serving as a reconnaissance squad leader in the military in Hungary. Later I moved to the UK where I got trained as a professional chef and worked in various kitchens, including a 2 Michelin star restaurant. I fell in love with cooking and really enjoyed working with fresh ingredients. Until now I truly believe that cooking is one of the most important skills for life that people should acquire at least on a basic level. After a couple of years of working as a chef I enrolled into university and started to study psychology. I graduated in 2015 and I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS).

I've been a certified personal trainer (CPT) in Kuala Lumpur since 2016. My certificate is from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), which is considered to be the 'gold standard' of personal trainer certificates in the USA and the UK. In 2019 I completed the 81 hours course by the Brookbush Institute of Human Movement Science and became a certified Human Movement Specialist (HMS) as well. Together with an intensive and live Corrective Exercise Workshop by the NASM I have I gained a fair amount of knowledge about injury prevention and recovery. In the past years I've been working with multiple clients with injury recoveries, while at the same time I've also helped them to learn how to prevent further injuries. Programming these 'pre-hab' exercises into their strength training workouts became an important tool for my clients. Equipping my clients with knowledge is vital part of my coaching practice  in order to help them to gain confidence and independence when it comes to physical exercise. At the end of the day fitness is a lifelong journey, isn't it? You want to pursue physical activities as safe and as long as you can!

Although nutritional coaching and counseling had always been part of my personal trainer journey, in 2022 I also completed the Nutrition Coaching program by Precision Nutrition. It was a great practical addition to my background in psychology and it truly transformed the way I coach people who want to lose weight or eat more healthy.

I also provide practical, one day workshops for individuals in the following topics: Healthy cooking and Food Prep; and Corrective Exercise for Injury Prevention & Recovery.

Since 2020 I've also been conducting workshops for businesses in various health, fitness and psychology related topics, in order to provide their employees practical ways to improve their health and productivity.
